Clarence Hodges
is responsible for overseeing development of a philosophical and religious basis for
the Church in North America to relate to various governmental
|
decisions dealing with conscience issues, guiding the response of the church to legislation which may impact upon religious liberty and initiating conscience litigation, as is deemed advisable, as well as directing the editorial activities and marketing of Liberty magazine.
Clarence Hodges is vice president and director of the Department of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty for the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, based in Silver Spring, Maryland. He entered ministry as President of Christian Record Services, a ministry for persons with disabilities in 1991. He was elected to his present position in 1994 and was ordained as a gospel minister in 1995.
Prior to entering denominational service,
he was international vice president for a corporation in the high-tech industry.
He also worked for the United States government for a number of years, serving under two presidents. Hodges was twice confirmed by the U.S. Senate for senior level presidential appointments, has served as U.S. Commissioner for the Administration of Children, Youth and Families, Chief of the Children's Bureau, National Director of Community Action,
and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US. State Department.
He holds advance degrees in public administration and political science. He is married to Yvonne and they have four adult children, Clarence Jr., Courtney, Cassandra, and Cathleen. |
